Valkyries cap off perfect season

In a battle of the undefeated, it was the Saskatoon Valkyries who completed their fairy-tale script with a convincing 35-7 victory over the Edmonton Storm.

The Valkyries, in their inaugural season in the Western Women's Canadian Football League, claimed their first title by winning the championship game in Lethbridge, Alta., Saturday.

The Valkyries opened with a rushing touchdown by Julie Paetsch on their first series, but the Storm quickly responded with a touchdown of their own to knot the game up 7-7.

The game remained deadlocked until the last five minutes of the half when the Valkyries caught fire again. Two more rushing touchdowns put the Valkyries were up 21-7 at the half.  Read full story...
