Valkyries secure first place
With a 30-0 victory over provincial rivals the Regina Riot, the Saskatoon Valkyries secured first place in the Western Women's Canadian Football League's Prairie Conference and secured home field advantage through the playoffs.
The Valkyries received two touchdowns Saturday from running back Sam Matheson, as well as single touchdowns from running back Julie David and receiver, Marci Kiselyk.
Kicker Rienna Reuve went four-for-four on converts and the Valkyries also recorded a safety when the Riot conceded in the end zone during the game in Regina.
The Valkyries return home on Sunday to host the Prairie Conference semifinals against the Manitoba Fearless, who they defeated earlier this season 55-0. Kickoff time is 1 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium.
