Valkyries in the news

One of the things that makes the Valkyries organization so successful are the volunteers, supporters and fans who back us every year. One such volunteer, Johnny Marciniuk, was recently honoured by the SHSAA (Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association) for his 29 years of volunteer work. Thanks for everything you do Johnny!

Marciniuk honoured for work in athletics


Johnny Marciniuk is always behind-the scenes, doing his best to stay out of the limelight.
When the spotlight shone brightly on the longtime Saskatoon educator and athletic administrator at both the SHSAA (Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association) and SSSAD (Saskatoon Secondary Schools Athletic Directorate), Marciniuk couldn't escape. After 29 years in the field, he received the SHSAA Merit Award for his overall involvement in provincial high school athletics.
It's the highest honour the SHSAA bestows upon someone, says Brad Smith, sports consultant for the SSSAD.
Marciniuk - currently program co-ordinator for physical education, health and environment education for the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools - was honoured this week in Saskatoon and last Thursday in Yorkton.
He has devoted his adult life to physical education and athletics across Saskatchewan. Read more....
