Changes to Valkyries Head Coach position

With mixed emotions, the Saskatoon Valkyries are announcing the resignation of Head Coach and President Jeff Yausie. Coach Yausie has been instrumental in the creation and success of the Saskatoon Valkyries over the last six years. He has surrounded himself with an outstanding group of coaches over the years and has shared his enormous amount of expertise in coaching on and off the field. He has been a great mentor to our board of directors and brought a wealth of football management experience to the organization. We are very fortunate to have had someone as dedicated, passionate and committed as Coach Yausie has been to our team since its inception. We are happy to announce that Coach Yausie will remain as one of our positional coaches for the upcoming season.

With this, the Saskatoon Valkyries are excited to announce the acquisition of a new head coach – Pat Barry. Coach Barry was the Valkyries defensive coordinator/assistant head coach this past season, where the Valkyries won the WWCFL title in an overwhelming victory of 81-6 over the Edmonton Storm. He has coached the defensive backs and linebackers in our organization for the last 3 years. Coach Barry was on the coaching staff for Team Saskatchewan Senior Women’s tackle football team who clinched the national championship in Regina this summer. He has been a high school coach in Saskatoon for many years, as well as a provincial team coach. After high school, Coach Barry was a member of the Saskatchewan Huskies and the Saskatoon Hilltops. We are excited to welcome Coach Barry into his new role as the Valkyries head coach.
