VALKYRIES SEND THE RIOT HOME DEFEATED ONCE AGAIN

In their second regular season game the Saskatoon Valkyries played their provincial rivals, the Regina Riot, winning with a score of 38-13. The first touchdown of the game was run in by #22 Sam Matheson, who also kicked a field goal in the second quarter for an extra 3 points putting the Valkyries up 10-0 over the Riot at the end of the first half. The Valkyries defence held the Riot to 0 points in the first half and often set the offence up in great field position which forced the Riot into tough spots. Valkyrie rookie #27 Kori Herner had an interception in the 3rd quarter with a big run placing the Valkyries offence on the Riot 16 yard line, leading to a field goal attempt that went wide to end the first half. The Valkyries offence started off the second half strong with a run from #88 Sarah Wright for a touchdown. #22 Sam Matheson ran the ball in for another touchdown putting the Valkyries up over the Riot 24-0. The Valkyries scored their third touchdown of the quarter with a pass from #15 Alex Eyolfson to #17 Haley Girolami putting the Valkyries up 31-0 over the Riot at the end of the 3rd quarter. The Riot kept fighting in the 4th quarter scoring a touchdown early on and another one on their next drive, which included a huge knockdown on a Riot pass from #24 Ehjae Chan, for a score of 31-13. The Valkyries offence responded with another touchdown run in by #22 Sam Matheson, her 3rd of the game, for a final score of 38-13.
This loss for the Regina Riot puts the 2018 WWCFL champions at 0/2.
