VALKYRIES TAKE FIRST PLACE AFTER DEFEATING THE FEARLESS
Wednesday, May 29th | Cori Thorstad
The Saskatoon Valkyries secured first place in their third regular season game with a 37-0 win
over the Manitoba Fearless. The Valkyries started out strong putting points on the board early in the game including two touchdowns from #88 Sarah Wright, who ran one in and caught a touchdown pass from #14 Alex Eyolfson. #14 Eyolfson had two more touchdown passes in the first half, one caught by #84 Rachelle Smith and one by #8 Ricki Obed. The Valkyries had success on all point after kicks and defence forced the Fearless to take a safety for an extra two points to finish the first half of the game with the Valkyries up 30-0 over the Fearless.
Defence had a great game not only forcing a safety but the Valkyries had 3 interceptions, two from #45 Emmarae Dale and one from #7 Rienna Rueve. The Valkyries also saw a blocked field goal attempt by #21 Jamie Lammerding which prevented the Fearless from putting any points up on the scoreboard! #22 Sam Matheson scored the final touchdown of the game with a huge run and the point after was good for a final score of 37-0!
The Saskatoon Valkyries will take on the Regina Riot on Sunday June 2nd at 2pm at Mosaic
Stadium in Regina for their final regular season game!
